NBN Co welcomes appointment of new Chair

21 March 2013

Following an NBN Co board meeting today, the company's Chief Executive Officer Mike Quigley, welcomed the appointment of Ms Siobhan McKenna as Chairman.

"It's a pleasure to welcome Siobhan to the role of Chairman. Her track record on the board over the past four years, her strong business advisory background and her clear grasp of the scale and complexity of Australia's largest national infrastructure project will be of great benefit as we continue to roll out the NBN across the country.

"I am also honoured to pay tribute to Harrison Young upon his retirement from the Chairmanship and the Board. I want to pass on our sincere thanks to Harrison for his strong stewardship of the company over the past three years along with our very best wishes."

Mr Young commented: "It has been a privilege and a pleasure to serve as Chairman of NBN Co under the direction of Senators Conroy and Wong. I wish Siobhan, Mike Quigley and all my colleagues at the company the very best as they take this important initiative forward."

Ms Siobhan McKenna said: "The board has prudently overseen the implementation of the company's Statement of Expectations under the leadership of Mr Harrison Young. Upgrading Australia's telecommunications infrastructure is an important national project and I am pleased to be appointed as Chairman as the company continues to connect more homes and businesses."
